They make me wonder why we need these expensive and complicated contraptions in the West!

Book recommendations

I just posted in the Alternative Parenting forum about a book on attachment parenting Hold on to your Kids which I found really interesting. I would like to hear people's thoughts on this book and also about other books that people have read about parenting.

Eco holiday

In the Alternative Accommodation forum, one user has asked for information about eco villages in France or Spain. It would be great if people could post with ideas in those countries, or indeed other similar places around the world.

Dehli belly?

It's great to see new people registering to the forum all the time although it's still early days (the online in arms phase!) Sometimes it does take a little time for people to respond to topics. I hope you keep checking back!

One new member posted asking for advice in the Alterntive Travel Issues and Advice section about Dehli belly. Having never been to India I am unable to repond personally but it would be great if someone out there did have experience on visiting India and other countries where poor hygiene is an issue.

It wonderful to see different ideas and a community emerge - thanks for reading!

Thanks for visiting Alternative Family Travel. As you can see, the forum has just launched and we are trying to encourage people to sign up by offering a free olive harvest holiday. The deadline for the competition is July 31st.

On July 31st we will do the prize draw for the free olive harvest holiday. I’m sure there must be a simple technological way to do this but in keeping with the low tech prize I am going to write down the names and pull them out of a hat.

It takes a while to get a forum going but already we have got some really interesting posts from families all over the world. Do you know about family volunteering? One couple is looking for an opportunity for them and their 4 kids and would appreciate some ideas and advice.
